Suzanne S. Balanay - Visual Artist
Suzanne endeavours to capture the beauty and challenges of life through art.
Suzanne S. Balanay is an artist and art educator based in Brisbane’s southside.
She has always been fascinated by the subtleties of facial movement, the expression of body language and the mystery of the mind. Her portraiture endeavours to convey the human psyche. She aspires to capture the essence of both beauty and challenges inherent in life. Her work often carries a narrative, particularly in the series she is currently developing.
In addition to the series, she paints and draws various subjects that piques her interest. One of them are flowers. She is drawn to their beauty, delicacy and variety of colours.
Her passion for art manifested early in life, around the ages of four or five when she was shown how to draw a face. That moment sparked Suzanne’s passion for art. When she was a bit older, she begged her parents for art classes which she started in 4th grade all the way until she graduated high school. She then obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from University of San Carlos, Cebu City, Philippines.
She later moved to Australia after marrying her high school sweetheart. Suzanne is based in Brisbane and also offers art classes from her home studio. Her appreciation for art continues to flourish in her practice along with sharing her knowledge and expertise with her students.
