I can't believe I'm a finalist in an art competition!

While browsing the web one day, I was checking out the bios of other local artists. I noticed someone who was a finalist in an art competition. Curious, I googled it to find out its location and discovered it was accessible for me. In the past, I had looked into other competitions but lost interest because they were too far away. Although I have created paintings for competitions before, I found the process stressful. After discussing it with my family, I decided to focus on creating works that interest me and consider entering them into competitions if they fit the requirements.

It just so happened that I came across this competition, and everything aligned perfectly, including my subjects and the size limit.

I'm thrilled to announce that I made it in! Ahhhhh....hahaha, how do you scream in text?

I'm incredibly excited and grateful to be a finalist in The Doyles Art Award for both of my entries, titled "Sanctuary" and "Lemon Tea".

To see these in person (available for purchase), the finalist exhibit will be from 19 to 28 June in Firth Park, Somerset Drive, Mudgeeraba, Gold Coast hinterlands.

About the artworks:

Sanctuary

In the coolness of the shade, this magnificent tree offers shelter and protection. Secured within its branches and shielded by its foliage, the birds find respite, breathing easily in their freedom.

Lemon Tea

When life gives you lemons, make lemon tea, smell the flowers and curl up with a good book.

A play on the proverb “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” this phrase holds a profound personal significance for me after experiencing challenging life circumstances. Lemons symbolise the sourness and bitterness inherent in life’s obstacles and difficulties. By discovering the strength within oneself and navigating through these trials, one transforms the lemons into a refreshing beverage, akin to lemon tea. This transformative process culminates in a serene and restorative moment, where the individual finds solace and recuperates, ultimately experiencing a sense of triumph and contentment.
